In a round table discussion at PubCon on November 16, Matt Cutts, software engineer for Google, was asked if there was a Google sandbox. He said, “There are some things in the algorithm that may be perceived as a sandbox that doesn’t apply to all industries.”
For me, that’s a politician’s answer. He was asked a yes or no question and didn’t say yes or no. Sounds like to me he is doing a Google dance around the question. On the search engine forums, the debate goes on and on as to whether there is a sandbox or not.
I have an easy solution. If it walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I’m going to call it a duck. Just because some industries don’t get caught in it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.
